On its 16th edition , the contemporary art and design fair ZONAMACO Mexico , the most important contemporary art fair in Latin America , will present samples of over 180 art galleries and exhibitions from 22 countries in America, Europe, and Asia at the Citibanamex Center from 6 to 10 February.
The exhibition, founded by Zélika García , will feature conferences and talks with artists and experts such as Bob Colacello, former editor of the Interview magazine , and Eugenio López, chairman of the Jumex Contemporary Art Foundation .
This year, the fair will receive new galleries selected by Zona Maco’s artistic director Tania Ragasol and board members José Esparza and Kiki Mazzuchelli .
During the presentation of the fair program, Tania Ragasol mentioned that the direct sales landscape of Latin American art was promising and that the market did not expect a decrease in the region.
“I know there are often certain factors that may concern investors and jeopardize some ideas, but I’ve been working at the fair for a whole year, I’ve faced all sorts of fears. Ultimately, sales always tend to increase and the fair shows a positive balance,” she stated.
The fair’s artistic director also mentioned that this year’s edition will feature a performance hall and three social commitment initiatives to gather funds for indigenous communities in Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Puebla .
