The #MeToo movement took off when actresses and public figures denounced filmmakers, musician , and actors who attacked them. Mexican women also joined in, and several Mexican actresses revealed they had been the victims of sexual harassment or rape .
Now, women outside the film and music industry are now joining in. Hundreds of journalists , writers , photographers , reporters , students , and academics have come forward to name the academics, journalists , and writers who have allegedly raped , harassed , and attacked them.
Women
in these industries have even created Twitter accounts to share the horrifying accounts of alleged abuse perpetrated by renown figures in the academic and literary world.

and sexism in the literary and academic industry have been a constant issue. Alejandro Jodorowsky , a Chilean-French writer and filmmaker, told writer Richard Crouse he had raped actress Mara Lorenzio on screen when they were shooting “ The First Gunfighter ”, released in 1970.
