The state of Guerrero is becoming a national and international benchmark in sports events as proved by the Mexican Open, Le Tour de France, and the Ixtapa Triathlon, according to Héctor Astudillo Flores, Governor of the state.
“Today, Guerrero is a reference point worldwide, as Mexican tennis has showcased Acapulco at an international level. In two years, we will have a stadium capable of hosting 20,000 [tennis] fans,” stated Astudillo.
During the opening of the First Ordinary Session of the Plenum of the National System of Physical Culture and Sports (SINADE), Governor Astudillo talked about the sports promotion his administration has focused on as a way to contribute to the reconstruction of the social weave in the state.
“We recently hosted the maximum stars of tennis and six days ago we had Le Tour de France , with 1,500 participants. These events were a sound success. Thus, Acapulco , just like Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo , have become key destinations in sports tourism,” claimed the Governor.
