Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei visited Mexico City's downtown streets, and also the Tepito neighborhood also known as “Barrio Bravo.” Most of that neighborhood is taken up by a colorful tianguis or open-air market.
On his Instagram account, Weiwei shared dozens of pictures showing the traditional areas of the neighborhood.
Colorful dresses, counterfeit cigarettes and discs, vendors, venues crowded with people, cars and pink taxis.
The renowned contemporary artist, who in recent days has been noted for his work dedicated to refugees in Europe as a way to support their situation, is traveling with his wife and son, who also appear in several pictures.
