The Attorney General's Office of Guerrero informed that five of the 11 people kidnapped in Ajuchitlán del Progreso on June 20 were released with the help of intelligence work conducted by police.
It added that the whereabouts of the other five is unknown and that one of the victims is presumably dead.
Attorney General Xavier Olea Peláez said that the victims were allegedly kidnapped by the criminal cell "El Tequilero" in San Cristóbal, San Marcos and San Gabriel.
This is not the first time that several people are simultaneously kidnapped in Guerrero. In January five teachers were kidnapped in Ajuchitlán del Progreso by members of El Tequilero.
Also the Ministry of Public Safety reported that human remains were found in plastic bags in Chilpancingo and that a police officer was killed in Acapulco.
Olea explained that the violence is due to a reshuffling of criminal groups after the arrest of leaders such as Onésimo Castillo Adame, known as “El Bombón”, identified as an operator of “Los Rojos”.
