One killed in roof collapse in the State of Mexico

The collapse of a garden roof left a family trapped under rubble while they were having lunch, and a woman was killed, according to the authorities.

Two adults and two children were injured, according to the authorities.

Silvia Mercado Vargas, a 44-year-old, was killed in the incident according to mayor Enrique Vargas del Villar, who instructed the authorities to provide support to the affected family for the transportation of the injured and funeral expenses.

The collapse also left children of three, six, 10 and 12 years of age with minor injuries, while a 52-year-old woman identified as Josefina Valverde Mulato, was severely injured, with a grim prognosis.

A man identified as Antonio Porras Chavero was also wounded and taken to a hospital in Mexico City.

A preliminary investigation determined that the collapse was caused by construction defects.
