Hoy miércoles 15 de marzo se inaugura la exposición “El diseño de Cartier: Un legado vivo”, en el Museo Jumex: una muestra que cuenta con aproximadamente 160 piezas de la casa joyera.
La curadora Ana Elena Mallet y la arquitecta Frida Escobedo presentan una exhibición que explora el proceso creativo y la historia de Cartier, la famosa casa francesa. La muestra incluye piezas únicas que fueron diseñadas para personalidades como la actriz mexicana María Félix y el secretario de Hacienda de Porfirio Díaz, José Yves Limantour.

Entre las joyas que lució “La Doña” se destacan los cocodrilos de esmeraldas y diamantes amarillos y la serpiente de diamantes blancos. Estas piezas icónicas regresan al país después de 22 años, pues la última vez que se exhibieron fue en 1999, en el Palacio de Bellas Artes.

La exhibición también incluye una sección dedicada a los relojes de Cartier, que son obras maestras de la ingeniería y el diseño. Uno de ellos es el “Mistery Clock”, un reloj que parece flotar en el aire y que perteneció a José Yves Limantour.

Si bien en la exhibición las joyas son las protagonistas, en realidad, también se destaca el diseño y la técnica artesanal.

Ana Elena dijo en conferencia de prensa que pese a que la joyería es un adorno, recurrir a ella es también una pieza de historia que proporciona detalles sobre una época.
