Will the government benefit from the accusations against Peña Nieto and Calderón?
Yesterday was the day President Andrés Manuel López Obrador had been waiting for. Former Pemex chief Emilio Lozoya finally started talking and filed a lawsuit before the Attorney General’s Office, accusing former president Enrique Peña Nieto of corruption. Now federal prosecutors must investigate Lozoya’s claims. If they’re true, the FGR must take legal action against Peña Nieto. By the time Lozoya made explosive claims against Peña Nieto, López Obrador made another former president feel uncomfortable. The President said that if Felipe Calderón knew about Genaro García Luna’s deals with the Sinaloa Cartel, he is guilty of a crime. Although the government received must criticism due to the COVID-19 death toll, the Peña Nieto and Calderón cases are a great distraction.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador asked Mexicans to notify him if they notice that a government official suddenly changes their lifestyle into a lavish life. He asked people to warn the government about ministers who misbehave. Well, the Public Administration Ministry might receive several complaints soon because several cabinet members have made a few mistakes.
Who will lead the Conapred?
The President dismissed the candidates the National Council to Prevent Discrimination ( Conapred ) proposed to lead the government department. On June 22, three days after Mónica Maccise resigned, the Conapred released a list of six indigenous women who could lead the institution. Nevertheless, none of them was included in the President’s list, moreover, he has the power to appoint whoever he thinks fit to prevent discrimination in Mexico.
Mexico is ready to buy vaccines
The Foreign Affairs Ministry was excited when Russia announced it has produced a vaccine against COVID-19. According to Russian authorities, Mexico is among the countries that will be able to acquire the vaccine once its effectiveness is confirmed. At the same tike, Mexico is participating in different clinical trials to find the best vaccine and has the money ready.
