The General Coordination of Ecology (CGE) has informed that a white lion cub was born at the Tlaxcala Zoo on October 28 , which makes it the seventh cub born from the family of white lions at the zoo, and the fourth cub born in captivity.
Through a press release, the coordination informed that the cub was named “Nieve” (Snow) , and had just turned one month and 19 days . The cub currently weighs 5 kilograms and is 35 centimeters tall .
The state government body informed that, during the first month, the cub was fed every four hours while a team of specialists monitored its body temperature, weight, digestion, and breathing to ensure its survival.
The coordination stressed that the new member of the white lion family at the Tlaxcala Zoo consumed six ounces of special formula for felines per day. The cub has also been vaccinated and wormed.
It is worth pointing out that the birth of the young female lion came as a result of animal welfare programs implemented at the Tlaxcala Zoo, which are meant to improve their species’ quality of life by providing good care and food.
Both locals and tourists alike will be able to see “Nieve” from December 27 to January 6, from 13:00 to 15:00 hours at the Tlaxcala Zoo .
Through their Twitter account, the government of Tlaxcala stated: “The seventh member of the white lion family in the Tlaxcala Zoo was born on October 28.”
