According to a 2016 study by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) , almost a quarter of the total food production in the world is thrown away. Food waste is such that we could use it to feed over 2 billion of people. In Mexico , this number increases to an alarming 37% a year.
So stop throwing away the following foods, because there's at least a way you can reuse them.
Tortilla
If you have a couple of leftover tortillas , you can always make some chips out of them. Cut them into a triangular shape and place them in a tray. Roast them in the oven for 8 minutes at 200°C and add some salt.

Fruit
How many times have you thrown away overripe fruit because nobody will eat it? Well, you can always make some marmalade with it. Just dice the fruit, add some sugar and water, and let it simmer for a bit.

Bread
Bread still has something to offer us after it has become stale. For this recipe, you need six pieces of stale bread, 1 butter stick, 4 eggs, 1 ½ cups of milk, ½ cup of sugar, 1 spoon of vanilla extract and a handful of raisins. Slice the bread and soak it in milk. Add the rest of the ingredients. Mix and cook at 180°C for 40 minutes in a French bread baking mold, and enjoy!

Potato skins
Potato skins are rich in fiber so don't throw them away! Instead, fry them lightly with some olive oil, salt, and some dried chili peppers. They make for a nice side dish.
