UNAM increased international prestige in 2017

The National Autonomous University of Mexico ( UNAM ) announced that in 2017 the presence and international prestige of the educational institution highly increased as 12 agreements with foreign universities and international organizations were signed and UNAM was awarded several prizes.

Particularly, the collaborations with Pierre and Marie Curie University (France), University of Alberta (Canada), Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (Israel), and University of Arizona (United States) stood out.

It should be noted that a series of universities from France, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, China, and the Netherlands opened representation offices in Ciudad Universitaria setting the path for international collaboration.

In 2017, 1,532 professors and 3,632 students carried out academic and research residences at institutions abroad, while UNAM welcomed 1,892 professors and 6,935 students from abroad.

UNAM awarded María Francisca Atlántida Coll Oliva, María de las Mercedes Guadalupe de la Garza y Camino, Luis Esteva Maraboto, Víctor García de la Concha, Enrique González Pedrero, Jaime Labastida Ochoa, Eduardo Matos Moctezuma, Leonardo Padura Fuentes, Ranulfo Romo Trujillo, Silvia Torres Castilleja, and Josefina Zoraida Vázquez Vera the title of Doctor Honoris Causa .

Overall, UNAM researchers participated in several projects and scientific initiatives of great global relevance such as the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative or the International Ocean Discovery Program in 2017.
