As tropical storm “Ramón” continues its slow approach to the coasts of the southern state of Oaxaca , violent rains are expected in the states of Veracruz, Chiapas, Oaxaca, and areas of Puebla, Hidalgo, and the State of Mexico.
Regarding Mexico City , isolated and intermittent rains are predicted across the city, according to the local Civil Protection Secretary.
Pursuant to the statement released by this Agency, the weather conditions in the capital are due to Tropical Storm “Ramón” – currently located at 95 km from Puerto Ángel, Oaxaca – and two low-pressure cells – one moving towards the northwest of the country and another over the southern region of the Istmo de Tehuantepec.
Winds from the north and northeast ranging between 15 to 30 km/h with an occasional maximum of 40 km/h are expected throughout the day, although it has been cautioned wind speed could increase starting 17:00 hours today.
In the central states of Mexico, a combination of electric storms and heavy rains is predicted.
The impact of this tropical cyclone has already been felt in Oaxaca, where rainfalls have overflown two rivers, affecting the communities of San Juan Guichicovi and Unión Hidalgo .
Heavy rains have also caused collapses at the highway sections of San Gabriel-Palomares and El Mezquite-La Ventosa in this southern region.
TS “Ramón” formed during the early hours of Wednesday near the coasts of Oaxaca and at the moment there is no indication it could develop into a hurricane.
