The National Museum for the Popular Cultures in Coyoacán , southern Mexico City , opened yesterday its traditional Tamal Festival , a culinary event dedicated to this dish of pre-Hispanic origin!

This year, the 26th edition will feature more than 50 producers , food specialists, and chefs who will participate in conferences, round tables, and demonstrations.

Relish yourself with traditional tamales from Chiapas , Michoacán , Oaxaca , Tabasco , Veracruz , Yucatán and more Mexican states!

from other Latin American countries, such as Colombia , Guatemala , Nicaragua , Panama , and Venezuela , will be available as well!

The event, organized by the General Directorate of Popular Cultures of the Ministry of Culture , is framed by Candlemas Day celebrated on February 2 marking the culmination of the Christmas festivities and the beginning of the agricultural cycle.

Tamal Festival will be held from January 30 to February 4 at the National Museum for the Popular Cultures.
