Samir Flores Soberanes

was an activist from Amilcingo , in the state of Morelos , and a strong opponent of the construction of a thermoelectric plant in Morelos . He was also a member of a community radio station and an activist .

was also a member of a group that fights for land and water, Frente de Pueblos en Defensa de la Tierra y Agua Morelos-Puebla ,Tlaxcala (FPDTA-MPT) .

The activist was one of the main opponents of the Morelos Integral Project (PIM) , promoted by the government , which includes the operation of a gas pipeline in Morelos .

was shot i n the head outside his home during the early morning.

Soberanes

had been attacked for his activism previously.

The crime was condemned by activists and organizations that opposed the thermoelectric plant because it is believed that his murder is linked to his activism and for rejecting the Morelos Integral Project.

This morning, during his press conference, President López Obrador said that he is appalled by the crime and said authorities are investigating.
