Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón was awarded as Best Director for “Roma” during the Critics' Choice Awards 2019, which took place at Santa Mónica on Sunday.

“I want to thank Yalitza and Marina , they are “ Roma ”, they are the film , I just want to say that the other side, which is perceived as foreign is often misunderstood, films might not break down walls but they can offer us a window into the other side and when we look through this window we find our own reflection . I want to thank my family and Mexico because they shaped me and Roma ,” Cuarón said.
“ Roma ” was the biggest winner of the night as Cuarón and the cast won Best Picture, Foreign-Language Film, Best Director, and Best Cinematography .
