Recycling Christmas trees into art

Now that the Christmas season is over, Christmas trees are thrown into the trash or simply left on the streets, therefore, they can't be used as compost or second-hand wood .

Therefore, authorities from the state of Mexico are collecting at least 300,000 Christmas trees , 10% of the trees will be donated to artisans from Santa María Rayón and San Antonio La Isla.

For 10 years, Joel Martínez received Christmas trees from PROBOSQUE and works his magic to turn them into decorations , toys , and many other objects.

Joel, who was 40 years of experience as a carpenter , invited other artisans to join this initiative to recycle Christmas trees.

He says that illegal logging is cheaper but it doesn't guarantee good quality wood , that's why he is against that practice and accepts the donations.
