One of the best-known Mexican traditions worldwide , the Day of the Dead has served as an inspiration for several movies and fashion collections such as Vans . Now, the Danish jewelry Pandora has created a “charm” to commemorate this special day.
This limited edition charm, which will be sold exclusively in Mexico , is inspired by “ calaveras ” ( skulls ). One side of the charm features a gray skull with black ornaments. Two hearts are shown at the center of its forehead and jaws, along with a pink six-petal flower on the side.
The company logo can be seen on the other side: A capital “o” with a crown on top.
Furthermore, both sides of the charm are decorated with small transparent crystals and engraved diamond shapes.
This piece of jewelry is made of sterling silver, an alloy containing 92.5% by weight of silver . The item is meant to pay homage to a very important Mexican tradition and serve as a reminder that the presence of our loved ones will always accompany us, even after their death.
Last year, Pandora launched a charm to commemorate this tradition. On said occasion, however, the piece was inspired by a drawing by Lourdes Villagómez , with details painted by hand.
