On Monday, Mexican actress Yalitza Aparicio was awarded the keys of the city of Panama .
The city mayor , Raisa Banfield , awarded Yalitza during the International Panama Film Festival.
Yalitza
explained that “it is very important for me and I feel honored, everything thing I've done is to work.” Banfield said that Yalitza's work has emphasized the human spirit's capacity to overcome challenges.
On the other hand, Yalitza said she was proud of her origins and talked about the importance of loving herself and appreciating her roots .
The actress also emphasized that there are many stereotypes that have to be challenged and said that change begins individually: “If we want change , we have to begin with ourselves.”

explained that stereotypes “limit because we have this idea that if you belong to a certain social class, you can't aspire to more and sometimes society emphasizes that.”
