Over 500 women protested outside Mexico City's Civil Security Ministry (SSC) to demand justice for at least two minors who were allegedly raped by four l ocal police officers but more sexual abuse cases have emerged in recent days.
A few days ago, a 17-year-old reported that she was raped by four police officers in the Azcapotzalco borough on August 6. The teenager was walking home when a police car stopped and the officers asked her why was she walking home so late and that that place “was very dangerous.”
The police officers then kidnapped her and raped her inside the car several times.
After the girl reported the crime, local authorities announced they have launched an investigation .
In her statement, the victim explained that all four police officers raped her, one by one. The officers were laughing at her while she cried.
After the minor underwent a medical test, prosecutors confirmed she has been sexually abused .
A few days later, it was revealed that another l ocal police officer was being investigated after a minor reported the officer raped inside a photography museum .
On August 8, at 7:30 PM, after the screening of a film, police officer Édgar Bertín deceived the 16-year-old victim and took her to the locker rooms where he sexually abused her.
After being attacked, the teenager , who was doing an internship at the museum , walked to a nearby subway station where she asked for help.
When the alleged rapist was arrested, he denied the accusations and said there had been consent but the victim denied the claims.
Moreover, it has been announced that local authorities took legal action against other four police officers accused of sexually abusing a female officer and against another officer who sexually attacked a homeless woman .
It has also emerged that the personal information of the 17-year-old victim was leaked. After the leak , the victim and her family asked for “time to heal” and be able to continue with the legal process .
It is unclear if the four officers accused of rape are still on duty as Jesús Orta said the officers are still on active duty , while mayor Claudia Sheinbaum said they had been suspended.
