José Atalo “H,” who was wanted by the Baja California Sur government since 2004, was arrested on Thursday early morning by members of Mexico’s Navy at Hermosillo, Sonora.
Wanted for killing a man with a firearm in July 2004 at the Santa Rosalía-Guerrero Negro highway stretch, the accused, who is 75 years old, spent 16 years on the run, becoming the fugitive with the most time in the list of Baja California Sur’s most wanted .
After performing intelligence works, it was known that the fugitive was living in a residential area located in Hermosillo, so members of the Navy, in coordination with the Baja California Sur Public Security Ministry, fulfilled the arrest warrant against José Atalo “H” for murder.
The suspect, who was born in Tamazula, Durango, was made available to personnel of the Ministerial Police for the creation of the corresponding investigation file.
