The economy of the future is built with diverse talents and people, thus the inclusion of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT+) community is key to attracting and retaining the best workforce possible.
Mexican multinational companies that employ thousands of people have a great economic impact, which gives them the opportunity to promote this positive change in society and recognize the work of people with different gender identities and sexual preferences, said the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC) .
The agency launched its second annual survey HR Equity MX: Global Labor Equity Program , by which it evaluates inclusive policies and practices of the LGBT+ community in work spaces and certified Mexican companies regarding the adoption of non-discrimination policies.
Equity MX seeks to expand the network of inclusive companies in the country. In this vein, the director of HRC Equity MX and the Equality Program at the HRC Labor Center, Deena Fidas , said they are proud to witness the growth of companies that are inclusive of the LGBT+ community in Mexico.
It thanked the work of HRC in Mexico, the educational arm of the civil rights organization of LGBTQ people in the United States , with the support of its implementing partners, such as Pride Connection and other Mexican corporate partners committed to LGBT+ inclusion .
Meanwhile, equity partner HRC Equity MX, Francisco Robledo , stressed that HRC Equity MX2019 represents an unprecedented moment for the inclusion of the LGBT community in Mexico and Latin America .
Corporate leaders in the country recognize that by defending the inclusion of said community among their employees, customers, and consumers, they promote fair workplaces and strengthen their professional goals, said HRV equity partner Equidad MX, Fernando Velázquez .
Kellogg’s Latin America's Vice President of Finance, Alejandro Salicrup
, pointed out that securing a diverse and inclusive workplace is the right move and part of a world trend towards sexual diversity.
Therefore, he said, the recognition that Kellogg’s received this year –the second time in a row- is a statement of our effort to respect our differences.
"We try to promote self-development in a working environment open to new ideas. This allows us to empathize with our consumers and their needs,"
he added.
Since 2002 , the HRC organization in the United States has granted the Corporate Equality Index certification , which measures the level of inclusion that organizations offer to the LGBTTTIQ community.
As part of this Index, Kellogg’s North America has obtained a perfect score for several years , highlighted Salicrup.
