As if by magic, Javier Aquino recovered and played the Tigres vs Leon match; the game of Rodolfo Pizarro against Monarcas was also extraordinary, as was the perpendicular shot of Raúl Jiménez or the superb goal of Carlos Vela , the first of the Los Angeles FC franchise during the classic match of that city vs the Galaxy.
The groundless decision of the National Team's coach of calling the usual names – even if their presence in the National Team isn't justified – makes us question why there are some players who haven't had more time in the National Team.
Talent is the most valuable thing in football; the ability to throw off balance any defense creatively, technical capacity, and fine discernment are highly valued assets anywhere in the world...but not in Mexico. The makeup of Mexico National Team is based on heights, weights, and profiles more than the characteristics mentioned before. When you're being bull-headed it's like shooting yourself in the foot and refusing to see there is much more talent than the one you've been trusting in while being at the helm of over 40 matches as the National Team's coach.
It's not about promoting Rodolfo Pizarro, José Juan Vázquez or Paul Aguilar – just to mention a few – but no one can deny that, right now, they could be much more useful than a damaged Giovani dos Santos , a stubborn Jonathan dos Santos , or an injured Carlos Salcedo ; I insist, the purpose of these words isn't to promote but to understand why these players haven't been given the same opportunities than others who have constantly failed as members of the National Team.
Some will claim that Pizarro had his chance at the Gold Cup and that he lacked both the leadership and the ability to make the team succeed. But this was a monstrosity of a National Team, which lost against Jamaica in the semi-finals because the “stars” had played – days earlier – the Confederations Cup Russia . The Guadalajara player is part of the European virus razing any player of Mexico's Football League just because they are playing for a club of the old continent, even if their involvement is little more than training.
By the closure of this tournament we will surely see more outstanding performances from many football players, and for the skeptics and critics who claim some of the ones mentioned above are not worthy of the National Team because the level of Mexico's Football League is not the same as that of the World Cup, the reality is that many of those summoned by Osorio aren't the solution either to transcend in the event for which the Colombian was hired.
