The Attorney General’s Office ( FGR ) obtained an arrest warrant against Dámaso López Serrano , also known “El Mini Lic,” the alleged intellectual perpetrator of the murder of journalist Javier Valdez Cárdenas .

is the son of Dámaso López Núñez , El Chapo ’s right-hand man. Dámaso López Serrano handed himself over to the DEA in July 2017, because he was afraid El Chapo’s sons would kill him as they were fighting to control the Sinaloa Cartel .
The FGR announced it has started the process to extradite the criminal , who is facing charges in the U.S.

was murdered in Culiacán on May 15, 2017. The reason behind the crime is his journalistic activities.
Mexican authorities identified and arrested the gunmen who killed the Mexican journalist , however, they had failed to arrest the intellectual perpetrator.
Nevertheless, the trial to punish the two gunmen is ongoing and the journalist’s family is demanding justice .
According to the U.S. government , Dámaso López Serrano , aka “ Mini Lic ,” is believed to be “the highest-ranking Mexican cartel leader ever to self-surrender in the U.S.”
