Mexico reported two outbreaks of H7N3 bird flu virus in the central region of the country, according to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), quoting a report of Mexico's Ministry of Health.
Out of the little over 1,900 Rhode Island red chickens and white chickens bred at a chicken farm in the state of Guanajuato , the virus killed 1,380 birds, according to the report posted on the official website of the OIE in Paris.
According to the information, the remaining birds which didn't contract the highly pathogenic virus had to be culled.
The other outbreak was registered among backyard birds in the neighbouring state of Queretaro , killing 7 in a flock of 26.
Mexico previously reported an H7N3 virus outbreak in May last year.
