At last, they were able to put on a good display, they are candidates to qualify for the Mexico Football Playoffs (Liguilla), and yet, Pumas , as stated by current president of the club, Rodrigo Ares de Parga , is a club that "cannot operate as a caucus", in a clear allusion to the fact that a president must have autonomy in the decision-making process. He is absolutely right, even if he had given the impression of playing down his superiors, the Caucus members, with his comment.
Only last Thursday, we interviewed Arturo Elías Ayub at the sports show, Reacción en Cadena , which airs on Canal 52 de MVS ; there, he talked about the reality lived by Pumas to this day and some ideas to achieve a short-term growth for the Mexico City football club.
Elías Ayub is a passionate follower of this team, he chaired the Board of Trustees which earned the club a bi-championship in 2014 , and out of a personal decision he avoided reelection to the post. He expressed a thought that might be completed should the club choose to be modernized and open up to find solutions to many of the problems befalling the at the moment: “Pumas could very well be thinking of migrating to a scheme similar to Tigres F.C. and become a concessionaire to either a company or a serious organized group, that handsomely invests in the club and does things right.", noted Elías Ayub for the improvement and enhancement of Pumas F.C.
Elías Ayub hits the nail at the very mentioning of the premise"we are always interested in Mexico football", he says: "This organization [Pumas] is jammed, without a clear future, given the brawls amongst trustees, they always try to turn things to their own personal advantage before achieving a group benefit. Tigres F.C. has been managed since 1996 by Sinergia Deportiva , a company financed by Mexican cement company CEMEX, one of the most prestigious and profitable private institutions in our country."
To add to the success, only last December 2016, the principal of the National Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL), Rogelio Garza, confirmed that the university had renewed their contract with Sinergia Deportiva for another ten years, as a result of the financial and sports merit achieved.
Now, the question is raised, whether this is the path for Pumas F.C. to follow, after the past administrations have not attained a balance between the financial and sportive. It wouldn't do any good to build up a new seedbed and get a fresh financial start if they do not win games and lack making points, let alone to classify to playoffs, but to stay away from relegation.
Perhaps Elías Ayub's proposal is the answer to the better management of a club that needs to find a balance between money and football; what better for it to be led by people who are experts on the matter and that can guide the club to the success it has been lacking in the past few years?
