On Friday, October 5 , the Legends Tramway of Mexico City will start night tours for tourists to get acquainted with the history of “ La Llorona ” ( The Weeping Woman ), the most iconic and terrifying ghost in Mexico . The tour starts in the city’s Historical Center .
This is the third year that the tour is held, but the show has grown more and more sophisticated; it currently has a two and a half hour duration and it tells three versions of the Weeping Woman legend : One from pre-Hispanic times, another from Colonial times, and one from the Inquisition .
Tourists can get on board the tramway next to the Metropolitan Church , where an actor leads the tour and tells general stories and details about the woman-ghost.
The tour passes through Santo Domingo, El Caballito, and Palacio de los Azulejos (The Palace of Tiles) . There are three stops at public squares, where little stages are assembled for the representation of the legend. A total of 15 actors will participate on the project .
This special tour will be held on the weekends from October 5 to 21 .
People may board the tramway at 17:00, 18:45, and 20:30 hours
