The ice rink at the Monument to the Revolution in Mexico City will begin operating on December 5 , according to the incoming head of government Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo .

The installation of the traditional skating rink, which had been held at the city’s main square ‘ Zócalo ’ for a decade, began last week. The former delegation deputy of Tlalpan revealed the opening date, which corresponds to the day when Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo takes office as head of government .

“I understand that the ice rink will start operating on December 5, though the inauguration will be held later on . The installation is a little smaller than before,” explained Sheinbaum Pardo.

She reiterated that, this year, the rink had been moved from the Zócalo to the Monument to the Revolution due to a series of events that took place at the Constitución Square for the presidential inauguration of Andrés Manuel López Obrador , and other activities related to her administration inauguration.

“This is a very special year. On December 1, the president takes office while we will do so on December 5 . There is a lot of work to be done during the transition so that the process is handled in a safe way,” mentioned the left-wing politician.

“The skating rink is being installed at the Monument to the Revolution. In the next few years, we will size up the place and consult with citizens to determine whether or not we should move it,” she added after a press conference with the ambassador of India in Mexico, Muktesh Kumar Pardeshi .

Promotion of electric and hybrid vehicles

Claudia Sheinbaum announced that she would launch a call to both national and international companies for the promotion of hybrid and electric vehicle technology .

The head of government elect met with the ambassador of India to learn from his experience during India’s implementation of hybrid vehicle systems combining gas and electricity, as well as the development of electric cars.

She also learned about India’s experience in technologies for the ecological rescue of rivers .
