Are you a fan of Spirited Away , My Neighbor Totoro , and Princess Mononoke ? How would you like to relive the best moments of these Japanese animation classics in a different and unique way? On April 14 , Mexico City will offer a second edition of its musical homage to Studio Ghibli Films of Hayao Miyazaki , with music by Joe Hisaishi .

However, this is more than just a concert; it is an audiovisual experience with live musicians on stage and a projection of images that will transport you to some of the most emotional and dramatic moments of Studio Ghibli’s greatest hits.

The 90-minute concert will revolve around two themes: War, a subject addressed and criticized by the studio in films such as Princess Mononoke and Grave of the Fireflies , and magic, a powerful force that dissipates hopelessness in My Neighbor Totoro , and Spirited Away .

On December last year, the event planning company Hala Ken Entertainment put up the first edition of the concert homage to Studio Ghibli at the Carranza Cultural Center in Mexico City .

The company has worked alongside the Venustiano Carranza borough administration to offer cinema cicles and an exhibition to commemorate 100 years of Japanese animation on April 2017. In 2018, they focused on animation for children and they came up with the idea of making a concert to commemorate the centennial of Japanese animation, according to Roberto Muñoz, one of the event organizers.

The concert will take place at the Venustiano Carranza theater in Mexico City on April 14, at 14:00 hours

. Tickets are MXN$150 each and you may purchase them .
