, General Director of the Mexican Space Agency ( Agencia Espacial Mexicana abbreviated AEM ) congratulated the young Mexican talents who have excelled in recent days in international competitions.
Dr. José Martínez Carranza
, a researcher at Mexico's National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics ( Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica y Electrónica abbreviated INAOE ), and his team, QuetzalC ++ won the Autonomous Drone Racing ( ADR ) competition held in Vancouver , Canada .
Mendieta emphasized that Mexican students beat the strongest teams worldwide, such as teams from the University of Zurich , and from the Technological University of Delft .
Mendieta Jiménez congratulated 16 students from the Metropolitan Polytechnic University of Hidalgo ( Universidad Politécnica Metropolitana de Hidalgo ) who participated in the 2017 Air and Space International Program organized by the company Extraordinary Aerospace Applications ( Aplicaciones Extraordinarias Aeroespaciales ) and the Space Center U in the Space Center Houston adding that even thought the students do not belong to any of the joint programs with the AEM , their trip shows the huge potential for private participation.
"Mexican youth proves their talents each and every time they go to competitions abroad demonstrating that new generations find creative solutions to any challenge, difficulty or competition" concluded Mendieta.
