On February 12, investigative police (PDI), in collaboration with the local Security Ministry and the National Intelligence Center, arrested Carlos Fernando, aka “El Viejón,” a member of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel and who is accused of planning the attack against two Israeli criminals, who were murdered inside a restaurant in Mexico City in July 2019.
In September 2019, EL UNIVERSAL revealed the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the Israeli mafia were allegedly making a deal with Benjamín Yeshurun Sutchi and Alon Azulay, before murdering them on July 24, 2019.
Mexico City mayor Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed the arrest:
“Yes, there was a really important arrest linked to the Plaza Artz case (…) It’s a work that was done by the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office and (…) there is a collaboration, a link with the Attorney General, the Attorney General’s Office, and with the National Security Cabinet.”

Why did a Mexican drug cartel kill two Israeli criminals?
According to sources, the two Israelis were murdered by the CJNG as a result of a failed money-laundering operation.
According to the investigation, Vanessa, aka “La Güera,” was in charge of the financial operations of the CJNG leader, Nemesio Oseguera. The woman coordinated a meeting between the Israeli criminals in order to make the transactions.
Although it is now known what went wrong with the money laundering operation, “La Güera” orchestrated the murder along with “El Viejón.”
