Mexican designer Kris Goyri
opened the first day of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Mexico City with his Spring/Summer collection for 2019 .
To the beat of the drums, models wore dresses with structured and fluid silhouettes.
The designer took inspiration from the Rarámuri people (also called Tarahumaras) who live in the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range in Northern Mexico . In an interview, Goyri told that he spent time with the women of said community and learned from the aesthetics of their clothes’ colors and the way that the fabrics seemed to flow, even during their everyday activities.
Kris Goyri applied colorblocking to skirts, shorts, pants, blouses, and jumpsuits , highlighting the colors yellow, navy blue, and orange , among others. He used lowbacks and V-necks in each of his designs.
With 26 different looks , the designer sought to show the freshness of Mexican women by using fabrics such as silk, chiffon, crepe, and cotton in an elegant and sophisticated way.
Just like in some of his previous collections, Kris Goyri used his characteristic stamp by adding geometrical details in his cleavages and shoulder areas.
