Today, Mexican singers Jesse & Joy will begin a tour called “ Electrify the vote! ” meant to promote Hispanic participation in the United States’ legislative elections on November , regardless of who they intend to vote for.

“It is very important to Jesse and I that people know they can vote for whoever they want, as long as they participate in the election,” stated Joy in a phone interview in Mexico.

The Mexican-American duet recently joined the Latino Civil Rights Group in the United States , formerly known as the National Council of La Raza , to perform at small stages in the border states of California, Texas, and Arizona, starting today in San Diego .

The singer explained that their aim was to perform a series of exclusive acoustic sessions. “What motivates us is that we want to give a message of unity to people and let them know that we can change things as long as we exercise our right to vote in a responsible way.”

Both Jesse and Joy claimed to be saddened by the separation of immigrant families at the Mexico-U.S. border .

As part of the “Electrify the vote!” tour, the singers will perform in Pomona, California; Tucson, Arizona, San Antonio and Dallas, in Texas .
