With an investment of over MXN$24 million , Santiago de Querétaro, the capital city of the central state of Querétaro , is planning to rehabilitate its historic monuments zone in order to keep its certification as World Heritage Site, issued in 1996.
The Mayor of the city, Marcos Aguilar, said during a press conference that they will be looking at improving sidewalks, street lighting, signposting, and underground utilities. The works have already begun at 15 streets and they expect to be finished by March 2019 .
Aguilar Vega detailed that street lighting works will be supervised by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and that more signposts will be added to improve the urban look of historic buildings.
