Mr. President, with all due respect, your information is wrong
On Monday, President López Obrador criticized EL UNIVERSAL after it published comments made by a PAN lawmaker . During his news conference, the President said: “I was reading EL UNIVERSAL yesterday, they are like a modern alarmist newspaper during the pandemic, with all due respect (…) they are showing their true colors; they are doing alarmist and slanderous journalism against us. I was reading that a PAN leader is going to file a lawsuit , I think it’s the lawmakers’ coordinator, he is going to file a lawsuit against Dr. Hugo López-Gatell (…) Of course the interview was made by EL UNIVERSAL. If you want to criticize the government, go to EL UNIVERSAL (…).”
With all due respect, you misread the article, Mr. President. The statement you referred to was made by a federal lawmaker and PAN coordinator Juan Carlos Romero Hicks , who didn’t give an interview to the newspaper; instead, he issued a press release that was shared by the newspaper, along with many other media outlets. Since it was a statement, it wasn’t printed. It’s also false that the lawmaker is a PAN leader.
Furthermore, the most recent interview with a political party leader was published last week and it was an interview with Alfonso Ramírez Cuéllar , Morena ’s leader; the leader of your party, Mr. Preisdent. This interview made it to the front page, a place where leaders from all parties have appeared.
