They've traveled all the way to Russia to enjoy their fourth World Cup . The members of the popular band “ El Recodo ” have begun their latest World Cup adventure in the Red Square, close to where they will be performing next Thursday.
It all began with the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan. This trip and their experiences in football and in the most important sports event in the world led them to develop a tradition of traveling to all the host countries since then. They've been to Germany 2006 and South Africa in 2010. The only one they've missed was Brazil 2014 but now they're back.
Although they've always been fans of baseball – like exemplary natives of Sinaloa – they've also been thrilled by the success, thus far, of Mexico's National Football Team .
“A good game the one the boys are giving and we hope the good vibes of all the Mexicans reach over so they can beat Sweden ,” said singer Poncho Lizárraga.
Despite they've just reached Moscow after a stopover in Amsterdam, and they are tired of traveling, the band members began to walk the streets of this Russian city, adding it to their long list of places where they have performed. Immediately, Mexican fans recognize them and ask for selfies.
"Proudly Mexican!" Reads the tweet of the band:
“We're very happy with this being our fourth World Cup. We've been together with all the fans and the team since Japan 2002. Now we're very happy to be in Russia and bring our music to the people,” he added, inviting us to hear them play.
“It's a free event and we hope all the fans in Russia drop by.”
El Recodo will be traveling, like thousands of other Mexicans, to Yekaterinburg to witness the third match against Sweden's National Football Team in which Mexico will be playing for a place in the quarterfinals.
"Ready for the game of [Mexico's Football Team] vs Sweden. We're at the Yekaterinburg football stadium."
