With the plan to open 200 stores in Mexico during the following five years, the Dutch firm HEMA has arrived in Mexico to compete with brands like Miniso .
The general director in Mexico for HEMA, John Lacter , said that the company wants to offer high-design and sustainable products at affordable prices for the Mexican market.
“You choose a country and the opportunities it gives you; we see a great country with potential , with a young population. It’s a good market for growth and we see a long-term project,” he said.

In that sense, he explained that on the first stage, they will distribute products made in other countries but he did not rule out offer products made in Mexico in the medium-term.
“We want to understand the Mexican client better; what they want and how they behave. It’s something very interesting,” he explained.

The first Hema store will open in Mexico City as soon as next summer and the company expects to have over 3,000 employees and visits of 30,000 clients per month by 2025 .
