The Amparo Museum
in Puebla, Mexico , will host the project “ Forasteros. De migrantes , refugiados y exiliados ” ( Outsiders: Of Migrants, Refugees, and Outcasts ) from April 26 to August 6.
During this period, 9 different stories will be exhibited through a series of conferences, movies, images, artworks and an installation that will evolve weekly, under the coordination of Rafael Ortega.
What is migration about?
What are its causes? How does it change? How does it affect us? And the migrants themselves: Who are they? Why do they leave their home? Why do we find them so intimidating? Why do they affect us? These are some of the questions which will shape the dialogue that this project seeks to generate. The goal is to reflect upon a human reality that involves all of us .
On their twitter page, the Amparo Museum published: “Migration is a term that encompasses a broad variety of movements and situations, it involves people of all fields and backgrounds as can be imagined. With the project ‘Forasteros’ we raise questions and seek answers .”
The purpose of the project is to build a discussion around a complex phenomenon that affects multiple aspects of economic, social and security fields, and to consider its impact on everyday life in a world that grows increasingly interconnected.
“ Forasteros ” is presented as a conference program with movie projections at the Pedro Ramírez Vázquez Auditorium and graphic interventions at the Amparo Museum foyer, accompanied by data and quotes that change weekly in order to put the project into context.
Adriana Sletza Ortega Ramírez, Dainzú de Lara Espinosa, Marianne Marchand, Alejandra Carrillo Soubic, Marco Polo Álvarez Domínguez, Gustavo López Ángel, Leticia Calderón Chelius, Juan Carlos Gachuz Maya and Josh Begley, among others, will participate in the project at the Amparo Museum.
