To date, Mexico has confirmed 41 COVID-19 cases , all linked to Europe and the U.S. In addition, there are 155 suspected cases.

In a news conference held on March 14 , Hugo López-Gatell explained that the cancellation of massive events represents a case-by-case, day-by-day, and hour-by-hour decision, analyzing a risks-benefits balance.
“Today, the number of cases is three times the number of cases presented in the first month. We have been having sporadic cases and only twice, three cases the same day. Today, we had many more cases; this is already a transition toward the second stage ,” said López-Gatell.
López-Gatell asserted Mexico is not yet in the community transmission stage .
In addition, he announced the suggestion of Mexico’s Health Ministry for all public and private organisms to suspend their non-essential activities that imply relationships with the public. He said this measure will become official on Saturday, March 14 .
He added that in a dialogue with education authorities , the Health Ministry will participate in an education forum with state authorities, asserting that this does not mean classes are suspended in the country.
On February 28 , Mexico confirmed its first cases of coronavirus infection in two men who had recently traveled to Italy , making the country the second in Latin America to register the virus .
Mexico City
A 35-year-old man who showed positive in an initial test in Mexico City went through a second test that turned up positive results, Deputy Health Minister Hugo López-Gatell Ramírez told a regular news conference.
The man was linked to the second case , a 41-year-old in the northern state of Sinaloa , López-Gatell told reporters, speaking alongside President Andrés Manuel López Obrador .
The government would hold a daily evening news conference at 9 p.m. until further notice to update the public on the status of coronavirus infections , López Obrador added.
Both of the men confirmed with coronavirus were in Italy for about a week in mid-February, and likely became infected at a convention in the northern city of Bergamo , the government said in a visual presentation at the news conference.
The two were being held in isolation, one in a hospital and the other in a hotel in Sinaloa , López-Gatell said.
The Mexico City resident had light, cold-like symptoms and was at low risk, he added. Officials were observing five of his family members in isolation.
In addition, two men who had been in direct contact with the infected men were under observation, one in isolation, the government said.

On February 2 , Mexican authorities announced that the patient who was being treated at the National Institute of Respiratory Diseases has been discharged and that the latest lab results show the presence of the virus in the throat is almost non-existent.

Additionally, a 31-year-old woman who had recently traveled to Spain tested positive for COVID-19 . She has already been isolated at home with the corresponding care.
On March 15 , Mexico's Health Ministry announced 18 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Mexico City.
State of Mexico
On March 6 , Health authorities reported the first positive COVID-19 case in a 71-year-old man who traveled to Italy .
The state government said all the corresponding protocols are being implemented in order to attend the situation.
The patient was isolated in a hospital and his condition was reported as stable . This register is part of the intended search of cases derived from the permanent epidemiological surveillance works in the State of Mexico.
The state Health Ministry added that they are monitoring two suspected cases in Huixquilucan and one in Metepec , all of them recently traveled to Europe .

On March 11 , authorities announced that a 64-year-old woman who had recently traveled to the United States tested positive for COVID-19 . She has already been isolated at home with the corresponding care to treat the virus.

On March 12 , authorities announced that they had confirmed one COVID-19 case in the State of Mexico . The patient is a 58-year-old man who recently traveled to Spain .
Additionally, a 30-year-old woman who recently traveled to Spain tested positive for COVID-19 too.
In total, 3 people have tested positive in the state of Mexico.
Sinaloa
The 41-year-old patient who traveled to Italy is one of the two persons currently isolated in separate hotel rooms in Sinaloa . Both of them arrived in Culiacán on Thursday in a flight from Guadalajara , Jalisco .
The local Health Minister Efrén Encinas Torres reported that the second person, a male, has shown respiratory disease symptoms , hence, given the possible infection he may have, authorities have taken samples to assess his case.
Encinas added that there are isolation rooms in hospitals in Sinaloa ready in case the results of the second test performed to the 41-year-old man confirm COVID-19 .
Encinas Torres also said that the corresponding health protocols were activated in airports, ports, land and railway stations with the help of migration authorities to control the entrance and exit of people and evaluate their health conditions.
In a joint work, and even in an international scale , authorities have begun tracking and locating the passengers who traveled in the same plane with the three first confirmed cases of coronavirus in Mexico, as prevention measures and so as to take samples and verify their health status in view of new infections.
The third confirmed case is a 59-year-old patient who is not a relative of the other two confirmed cases but another person who traveled to Bergamo, Italy for a convention . “The three of them have mild symptoms and thus we have decided to let him be at his home with his family while the confirmation was pending, but isolation is going to be maintained.”
Coahuila
On February 29 , the governor of Coahuila Miguel Riquelme Solís confirmed another case of COVID-19 in Mexico. It is a 20-year-old woman who recently traveled to Italy .
The governor said the case was first detected in a private medical facility and was then confirmed by the national health system .
“This 20-year-old woman, who was in Milan , Italy between January and February , arrived [in Mexico] on February 25 and presented symptoms two days after, she came with another two youths who are being searched for by the local and federal government to perform the corresponding evaluation,” he said.
He asserted that the patient has already been isolated ; she is at home with the corresponding care to treat the virus.
Miguel Riquelme
asked the population to remain calm and asserted that Coahuila is prepared to avoid the propagation of the disease. He informed that the local government has purchased the necessary equipment.
On March 13 , the Health Ministry reported another confirmed case in this state.
Chiapas
On March 1 , authorities in Chiapas announced that they had confirmed one COVID-19 case in the southern state. The patient is an 18-year-old woman who studied and resided in Milan . She will remain home and shows no symptoms.
On March 13 , health authorities reported a second COVID-19 confirmed case in Chiapas.
Puebla
On March 10 , Mexican authorities announced another COVID-19 case has been confirmed in Puebla . The patient is a 47-year-old man who works for Volkswagen .
The man is a German national who recently traveled to Italy and later traveled to Mexico. After his trip to Italy , he visited Puebla and Guanajuato ,
The medical team at Volkswagen isolated the man and he's been interned at a private hospital.
The employees who were in contact with the man have been informed about the diagnosis and were urged to quarantine themselves and their families.

On March 12 , Mexican authorities announced that they had confirmed an additional COVID-19 case in Puebla . The patient is a 31-year-old man who recently traveled to France and Spain .
On March 13 , authorities confirmed another coronavirus case in the state of Puebla.
Querétaro
On March 11 , Mexican authorities announced another COVID-19 case has been confirmed in Querétaro . The patient is a 43-year-old man who lives in Spain but traveled to Mexico City by airplane and drove all the way to Querétaro to visit some relatives.
He has already been isolated at home with the corresponding care to treat the virus. In addition, two people—his parents—who had been in direct contact with the infected man were under observation.

On March 12 , Mexican authorities announced that they had confirmed an additional COVID-19 case in Querétaro —one of the two people who had been in direct contact with the infected man.

On March 11 , Mexican authorities announced another COVID-19 case has been confirmed in Nuevo León , Monterrey . The patient is a 57-year-old man who recently traveled to Europe , particularly Germany and Spain . He has already been isolated at home with the corresponding care to treat the virus. In addition, five people who had been in direct contact with the infected man were under observation.
Quintana Roo
On March 13 , Mexico's Health Ministry confirmed the first COVID-19 case in the state of Quintana Roo.
Yucatán
On March 13 , health authorities confirmed the first coronavirus case in Yucatán.
It is a 57-year-old woman who recently traveled to Spain . She is currently isolated at home.
Durango
On March 13 , the ISSSTE informed it had registered the first COVID-19 confirmed case in this state.
