Bolillo price on the rise

next to the tortilla are a staple in Mexico . A bolillo is a type of savory bread traditionally made in Mexico but also made in Central America. It is a variation of the baguette, but shorter in length and is often baked in a stone oven.

Each piece

of Mexico's popular bread already reaches MXN$ 5 , according to the Federal Attorney's Office of Consumer ( Profeco ).

In Guadalajara , in the western state of Jalisco, bolillo price increased from MXN$ 2.10 to MXN$ 5 per piece while in some areas of Mexico City the prices increased from MXN$1.50 to MXN$2 .

However, in the rest of the country, the price of the popular bread stood at MXN$ 1.50 pesos .

In the same vein, egg price continued on the rise in local markets throughout the country while sugar stood at MXN$ 57.85 per bag (2kg) a MXN$ 11.90 increase compared to last month.

Both avocado and lemon prices are also on the rise standing at MXN$ 44.85 and MXN$ 23.11 per kilo while onion and tomato prices dropped to MXN$20.18 and MXN$17.13 per kilo.
