A video published on social media, shared by journalist Denise Maerker , shows that authorities tortured those indicted in the case of the 43 missing students from Ayotzinapa , in the state of Guerrero .
The video shows a man blindfolded and tied up, o ne of the 122 people arrested by the former General Prosecutor (PGR) . During the questioning, alleged federal police officers ask him where the missing students are but after he denies knowing their location, they asphyxiate him with a plastic bag.
The man in the video is Carlos Canto , arrested on October 22, 2014.
The video proves the allegations made by the United Nations , as the organization said that at least 34 suspects had been tortured after their detention.
The man's sister, Melina Canto, says her brother was taken to a land plot in Iguala , in the state of Guerrero, where he was beaten, asphyxiated , and even received electric shocks .
After the video was made public, it was announced that the Attorney General's Office is analyzing the investigation linked to the torture of the suspects in the Ayotzinapa case.
Later, the former coordinator of the Federal Ministerial Police, Carlos Gómez Arrieta announced he would resign as the Undersecretary of Public Security of the state of Michoacán since he was one of the authorities in charge of the investigations .
He made the decision in order to cooperate with the investigations .
