's identity was created by Mexican hands , that work with materials such as clay, copper, fabrics , and wood to create artisanal pieces that reflect the worldview , traditions , and practices that shape the Mexican consciousness . The Great Masters of the Artisanal Heritage of Mexico National Contest 2018 awarded and celebrated some of the best artisans in the country, who preserve and promote our cultural backgrounds .
18 artisans
were awarded this prize, that looks to acknowledge the talent, sensibility, and creativity of Mexican artisans . The MXN $1,300,000 prize was divided among the artisans from 8 different states.
The National Award , the highest recognition was awarded to Jan Cristhian Mata Ferrer , from Villa de Allende, in the State of Mexico . His piece was titled “The birth of deer and other beings” is an embroidered cloth where the birth of Jesus is portrayed, with animals from the Mazahua and other Mexican areas.
The other winners are Audón Punzo Ángel, Jesús De la Torre Mendoza, Pascuala Díaz López, among others.
