Alleged author of Las Ramblas attack shot down

After a police operation in Subirats municipality in Alt Penedès, Barcelona , the police of Catalonia (Mossos) has confirmed that Younes Abouyaaqoub , alleged author of the terrorist attack in Las Ramblas , was shot down. The confirmation was made available via Mossos twitter account in Spanish , Catalonian and English , in what has been hailed as one of the most effective social media management on behalf of police authorities in times of crisis:

The Catalonia police also noted that Abouyaaquoub wore "a belt of explosives" at the moment of his decease, while the TEDAX police officers in charge of bomb technology used robots to approach and check the scene:

Younes Abouyaaqoub was identified as van driver that rammed against a crowd in Las Ramblas, Barcelona, last Thursday in what authorities have described as a terrorist attack. Abouyaaqoub fled the scene in Las Ramblas and remained persecuted until today.
