The Association of Brewers of the Mexican Republic ( Acermex ) said that after they were denied the beer registration Frida Marina , they have held talks with the Navy Ministry ( Semar ) to move forward with the project and that the profits will be donated to the Red Cross.
The association's director, Paz Austin , said that they tried to register the brand so that no one else would request royalties for the beer.
However, the Semar approached them, bewildered by the initiative, and they were denied the registration .
Austin said the issue is still under review by the Ministry and pending, but the goal is to launch it as soon as possible, either with the Frida Marina brand or another one.
"If at some point the Navy says they don't want the name to be used, it will not be done and another name will be used, but we are going t o donate 100% of the profits from this beer ," said the representative.
The directive explained that Acermex is formed by 120 brewers , and 10 of them are actively participating in the Frida Marina project.
The artisan guild indicated at the time that the first step was registering the Frida brand before the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) on behalf of its A.C. to ensure that this project remains true to its ideals and remains a nonprofit project.
"This same spirit of collaboration that distinguishes us as an industry has motivated us to unify our efforts in a unique, national fundraiser to support our brothers and sisters affected ," he said.
