Four Mexican films
will participate in the main section of the Rome Film Festival’s 13th edition , which will take place from 18 to 28 October , according to the official program presented yesterday.
The festival has invited American filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Michael Moore to the festival, as well as Italian filmmakers Giuseppe Tornatore and Mario Martone , and actresses Isabelle Huppert, Cate Blanchet, and Sigourney Weaver .
The festival will start with the presentation of the film "Bad tomes at the El Royal," written and directed by Drew Goddar d, screenwriter of " Cloverfield " and " The Martian, " which earned him an Oscar nomination, and creator of the Daredevil series on Netflix .
The Noir movie features Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm, Cailee Spaeny, Lewis Pullman, Nick Offerman, and Chris Hemsworth .
38 long feature films and documentaries will participate in the official selection
, including four Mexican films.
The first film is called " Bayoneta " by Kyzza Terrazas (co-produced with Finland). It features Luis Gerardo Méndez , who plays a Mexican boxer exiled to Finland.
The second Mexican film is " La Negrada ," by Jorge Perez Solano , and talks about the African populations in the Latin American country . The third film is " Las chicas bien ," by Alejandra Márquez Arbella, based on a book written by Guadalupe Loaeza .
The fourth one is " Titixe ," by Tania Hernández Velasco , which paints an intimate mosaic about the last harvest of a peasant family in a country that has abandoned its rural origins.
Furthermore, Michale Moore will present his new movie "Fahrenheit 11/9" about Donald Trump , while Barry Jenkins, who won an Academy Award for "Moonlight," will also participate with his new film "If Beale street could talk.”
Other Latin American films to participate will be "Running After" by Jeferson De; "Hermanos," by Pablo González, and "Sangre blanca," by Barbara Sarasola Day.
