50 years after the 1968 massacre in Tlatelolco , the injustice and violence stories, but also of hope, are brought back to life from the theater 's headquarters.
The University Cultural Center is presenting “ La Hecatombe ”, a play where forme r Presidents of a fictitious country, who could also be L uis Echeverría, Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, and Adolfo López Mateos , sit down to discuss their guilt in a massacre, with humor and cynicism; a discussion that takes place while they are in the 9th circle of hell.
While the former Presidents discuss the massacre , two young people talk about the massacres and injustices that have taken place in Mexico : from October 2, 1968 , to the 43 Ayotzinapa students, as well as the “porros” from the UNAM .
The director, Carlos Corona
says that “ October 2 is not only forgotten, it also repeats itself, and I think it marks the beginning of the right and obligation young people have to be a political and social voice.”
The play will be available until October 7.
“The 1968 massacre is unforgettable, it was no comparison, we're talking about half an hour of shooting against 10,000 people. It better not be forgotten. Wounds heal but the scar is always there,” warns Corona .
