The candidate of the coalition formed by ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), Green Ecological Party (PVEM), New Alliance Party (PANAL) and Social Encounter Party (PES), Alfredo del Mazo, was declared winner of the governor's election, obtaining 33.72% of the ballots, according to the Preliminary Election Results Program (PREP).
Meanwhile, far-left National Regeneration Party (MORENA) candidate, Delfina Gómez, received 30.81% of the votes, followed by the candidate of left Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), Juan Zepeda, with 17.7% and conservative National Action Party (PAN) aspirant, Jose Vasquez Mota in fourth with 112%.
With data obtained from 97.67% of the 18 thousand 605 polling places that operated in the 125 municipalities of the State of Mexico computed by the PREP, the president of the Electoral Institute of the State of Mexico (IEEM), Pedro Zamudio, determined to lift the permanent session and resume tomorrow when the final results of the elections are announced and Alfredo del Mazo is declared governor-elect.
The results were strongly rejected by the national leader of far-left National Regeneration Party (MORENA), Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who said that they will challenge the results of the elections and that they will go to court.
He announced that they will ask for a vote-per-vote count and a review of the whole process because he distrusts the data provided by the PREP.
The conservative National Action Party national president, Ricardo Anaya, said that they are waiting to gather all the voting sheets in the State of Mexico to analyze a challenge.
