Víktor Elbling, German ambassador to Mexico, announced that Angela Merkel will travel to the country in June.
The diplomat indicated that the Chancellor of Germany will be in Mexico on June 9 and 10.
“There are a lot of good reasons to talk with the Mexican President,” said to EFE the Chancellery's spokesman, Steffen Seibert.
According to the news agency, President Enrique Peña Nieto will welcome Merkel with military honors next Friday and will discuss bilateral relations, economic and foreign policy issues, as well as the upcoming G20 summit next July in Hamburg. The meeting will end with an official dinner with the invitation of the President.
On Saturday, Angela Merkel will have breakfast with representatives of civil society and her visit will conclude with the last activity of the Year of Germany in Mexico, an economic event about the industry 4.0 and the dual formation.
This is the second time Merkel visits Mexico since 2008.

Seibert remarked that Mexico is, first, the 15th world's economy and a member of the G20, with a “considerably large international relevance” and, given its geographic situation, it is the bridge between North America and Latin America.
Germany is Mexico's main commercial partner in Europe, with a volume of 16.000 million euros. Many German companies have settled in Mexico for years and have close ties regarding the automotive, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
