Mexican island wins quality award

(Passion Island), located in the center of the Protected Natural Area of Cozumel , in the state of Quintana Roo , received the National Quality Award under the category of Tourism , handed by President Enrique Peña Nieto on June 7.

The Mexican company was recognized for its quality and contributions to boost corporate productivity, innovation, and competitiveness in Mexico.

The National Quality Award distinguishes organizations which stand out because of their standards and administrative innovation , as well as their competitive and sustainable performance , which serve as examples to other Mexican companies.

This year 80 companies competed under 12 categories .

Isla Pasión is only 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) long. It receives about 2.500 and 6 thousand visitors daily (more than 100 thousand tourists a year), which has positioned it as one of the destinations with highest tourism growth in Cozumel.
