The Spanish ambassador to Mexico, Luis Fernández-Cid and the Director of Business Development of EFE news agency in the country, Raúl Cortés, inaugurated the photo exhibition “Retratos, Momentos y Miradas” (Portraits, Moments and Looks.)
It is constituted by 40 images from the Spanish agency's records, which show some of the most emblematic moments of political, social, cultural and sports figures from both countries.
In the Centro Cultural España (Spain Cultural Center), located in Mexico City, the ambassador Fernández-Cid expressed that the images not only represent Mexico and Spain as brother countries but also the evolution of historical, political, social, cultural and artistic events in both nations.
“This is a remembrance, a memory and a review which initial date was highly relevant for the relations between Mexico and Spain, that March 28, 1977, when the Ministers of Foreign Affairs Marcelino Oreja and Santiago Roel exchanged notes verbales in Paris, from which derived a great reinforcement that has had tangible results,” he said.

Raúl Cortés asserted that it is not casual that those records were selected, among almost 20 million images of the EFE agency, because they are from the period in which diplomatic relations were interrupted between 1939 and 1977.
