Yucatán will connect on a daily basis by plane with Atlanta, which will increase the flux of foreign tourists, especially Americans, but it will also expand the market for the diverse products elaborated in the Mexican peninsula.
It was announced in a meeting between the governor of the state of Yucatán, Rolando Zapata Bello, and Javier Arrigunaga Gómez del Campo, president of the Board of Directors of Aeroméxico, that the new air route will be managed by Aeroméxico, in collaboration with Delta Airlines, one of the most important companies in the United States.
In the commercial presentation of the International Conference Center Powered by Samsung, in Mexico City, it was explained that the flight will be daily and operated with Embraer 90 equipment, with a capacity for 99 passengers.
From December 1, the flight will start to operate, once the permits are approved by the appropriate authorities. It will be the flight 2717 with departure from Atlanta at 12:15 hours and arrival in Mérida at 14:15 hours.
The return to the American city will be at 15:10 hours and the arrival at 18:50, according to information provided by the Secretariat of Tourist Promotion (SEFOTUR,) a department which has followed the negotiations.
Atlanta offers a wide range of flight connections not only to the U.S., but also the rest of the world, and is the main user distribution center of Delta Airlines, a firm which transports more than 180 million persons annually.
With this flight, Yucatán will be connected to one of the most important airports in the world, which registers more than 101 million of passengers and the operation of 1 million flights each year. Additionally, it is considered the air terminal with most traffic of domestic flights, meaning, in the interior of the United States.
